New School, New Network

A quick update!

 

In three weeks or so, I have managed to achieve what I think many wait a lifetime for!

 

- New air conditioned server room

- New ICT Support office + repair area (two separate rooms all kitted out with new stuff)

- £22k worth of new server, including a hyper v solution based on a SAN for resiliency

- 90 new PCs ordered - i5s with 4GB and 60GB SSD and a 22" screen

- set up EES

- setting up a biometric fingerprint registration system

- revamping the entire network from ground up this summer

- Creating an ICT Hub with a brand new IT Room, including a Wii, Xbox connect and various other toys and gizmos.

 

So, er, yeah, Going well. Even did my first SIMs update this week.

So, it happened. I did it. All change!

 

This summer, my budget of £160k has paid for:

 

Brand new Hyper V Fallover CLuster with a SAN to boot.

Brand new domain, every machine rebuilt and all running windows 7 64x with office 2010

90 new Novatech all in one machines with 22" screens and SSDs to refurb every room, and an IT room.

A brand new office and IT repair area built with brand new machines etc for us

New Server room with air con

New storage area

Sitewide CCTV

Complete room refurb of an it room, with the addition of a 42" LED, and 55" Benq SMART touch screen, new benching, new layout and the machines mentioned above.

Exchange 2010 setup (almost!!) Impero, SIMS and more all migrated across.

Sitewide Biometrics

 

Think that is it. Apparently more money/fun to come!!

Pics will appear, but we are still finishing off. The main IT room still needs machines in -as we have been using it as a building area.

got a quick question regarding the nova tech AIO. Looking at their website, the AIO they feature is a celeron dual core AIO, for less than £400. It's 2GB of RAM, but it's still less than the combined cost of many a SFF pentium/core i3 desktop with seperate 22" monitor.

 

So i'm asking myself what the performance differences are between that and a £350 SFF desktop ? Or do you sacrifice not having a 5-yr warranty at that price ?

Not sure, because we got ours custom built with a custom spec of an i5, 4GB RAM and 120GB SSD.

 

Not sure if you noticed, but the prices on their site usually dont include an OS?
