Email for Students - Google apps or Live@Edu

I have been asked to look at email for students and im a bit unsure which direction to take to be honest. We have an exchange server on site which is used for staff and i want to keep it that way.

 

What would people recommend? Google or MS?

 

Also, we have our own domain, sherburnhigh.co.uk, if i wanted to to add students.sherburnhigh.co.uk to it what would i need to do or would i be better off buying a new domain name?

 

Any advice would be appreciated on this.

I like Office365/Live@edu - there's plenty of threads on here comparing that with Google Apps

 

All you'd do for your email is made an entry in your dns for your student email - no need for an extra domain name

We went down the route of Live@EDU.

 

We added a subdomain live.. The DNS of which is pointed to Live@EDU as provided within the start-up instructions.

 

We simply added a contact within our Exchange server to redirect all student emails to Live@EDU. All emails are routed through our exchange server before being sent off-campus.
