I'm fairly sure, though not 100%, that if you submit a FOI request and the request is legit then they are legally obliged to divulge that information.

I think in this case they would try and deny it under the guise of National Security..

 

I'm pretty sure some other exceptions are personal information...

 

But generally I thought they had to comply with the request.. They certainly have to respond in writing to the request

Common sense needs drawing somewhere: with this example, someone could send a FOI request to my school to ask for *my* browsing history? Nothing to hide, but I'd be absolutely fuming and would take that fume to the high courts to ask what sort of moron set the guidelines for such an act. And oddly enough the same people that would rightly whinge about SOPA/ACTA/Big Brother would say this is "quite rightly acceptable".

I never said I agreed with the FOI request - I certainly don't agre with SOPA, etc -

Looking back at the FOI above and the actual act - I suspect it'll be thrown out on 2 grounds - Browsing History could be seen as Personal and/or sensitive information #

THere are also areas that are exempt - and I imagine parts of the Home Office would be!

Might get a response to 1,2,3 & 8 - I understand what the chap is doing, but FOI is not going to go delve into her personal messaging and make it public.

The request has been refused (oh what a surprise). This is after they firstly denied any knowledge of the request. All the info can be found on the link in my first posting. The request could well be refined so it stands more chance of being fulfilled. I will continue to monitor it.
