Windows Media Services File Types?

I have just been experimenting with Windows Media Services and can only get it to stream WMV and MP3 files - everything else is ignored.

 

Is it possible to get it to recognise other formats?

 

If not what is the best way to convert DVDs, quicktime, mpeg, avi and so on into WMV?

i works though media player 11 i have this connect to my xbox and it seems to only like play these files from what i found and pictures (.jpeg)
