Senior IT Technician, The Weald School, Billingshurst

I have recently handed my notice in and therefore my role is up for grabs.

 

The school is located in Billingshurst, West Sussex and for a school of its size has a large amount of machines.

 

Info on the System

• Ubuntu 10.04 for KVM Virtual Hosts, Apache cluster, VPN
  
• Windows Server 2008 R2 (a couple 2003 R2) running Exchange 2007 (move to 10 Planned but not happened), SQL2008 (Sims).
  
• AD Domain
  
• 900 Desktops running Win 7 (Stone Computers/HP) All less then 4 years old.
  
• HP Procurve Lan Infrastructure Vlans etc - HP 2610 Switches with 5406Zl core
  
• VOIP Phones - Running FreePBX - about to go live
  
• Smoothwall Firewall/Filtering
  
• HP MSA2000 SAN
  
• A few Macs - standalone
  
• Cashless Catering - Cunninghams
  
• Promethean Whiteboards/Casio Projectors

Here is the Advert - The Weald - Senior ICT Technician

 

Pay Grade is NJC Grade 7 Points 23-26 (£20,198-£22,221 per annum)

 

The Eventual plan which is being worked towards here is that the school has two separate server rooms in an HA cluster i.e so that one can fail over to the other. Exchange 2010 is planned and I would presume would like to roll out in the summer or October with a view to set this up in a mailbox cluster so one can go down and others take over.

 

Fibre is about to be upgraded to 50/125 to support 10GBE although each switch currently has a 1GB link to the core over Fibre.

 

It is a brilliant place to work! I'm just off to the private sector chasing the big bucks! (almost!)
