atamakosi Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Does anyone know if it is possible to redirect local usb ports to an rdesktop terminal session?
koffi2k Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 G'day Unfortunately not that I know - but I'd like point you towards FreeRDP (get at least 1.0) and later which has shown a much higher pace of development compared to rdesktop. They're actually demanding for USB redirection, but it's not yet done: FreeRDP – Thinstuff Summer of Code 2012 It's a complete rewrite of rdesktop and supports more modern RDP functions like better encryption, Network Level Authentication (NLA) or even RemoteFC, all stuff rdesktop can't do. I generally have better stability with FreeRDP and never looked back to rdesktop once I discovered FreeRDP.
atamakosi Posted April 22, 2012 Author Posted April 22, 2012 Thanks for the reply, koffi2k. the main item I'm looking for is the usb redirection but have also noticed a hiccup with my current ltsp setup. Some thin clients appear to freeze after 10-15 seconds if the credentials aren't entered quick enough. strange right? I'm now curious if this is a problem with rdesktop now. Is it easy to replace rdesktop with freerdp on the ltsp server? We are a small school so any changes i make go directly on to the live server.
