Does anyone know how Win7 licensing works wrt VDI.

Suppose, hypothetically, I install one copy of Windows 7 on a server in a VM.

How many clients are licensed to use that one copy of Windows7? Do I need to license for every connection? or one license per disk image?

I have just been looking into this (ironically) but don't know how accurate my information is yet.

If you have a copy of Windows with Software Assurance, you recieve VDA (Virtual Desktop Access) rights automatically as part of that software assurance.

If you have a device which is incapable of supporting windows or a device without a valid windows licence, then you must purchase a VDA licence which I believe is on an annual basis.

I can't remember what happens with a Windows Licence with no software assurance, I **think** it might grant access rights, but not sure.
