Procurve Switches

Does anyone know of any companies/experts in creating vlans, we have 2 Procurve 3400cl core switches and about 28 Procurve 1800/10 the college has grown in size I have adopted more and more of the building, everything is in default Vlan, we have 29 Zyxel access points, 34 printers, 22 securtiy cameras, boilerhouse control, alarm system, 8 servers, 300 plus desktops, cashless catering revals, door control all running in default Vlan what I am after is a company or individuals to come and give me a price to setup Vlans on our network I know about vlans but its too big a task on my own.

Why do you want to VLAN your network? Are you having performance issues? Too much broadcast traffic?

It really isn't too difficult to do it yourself. We did. There are lots of people here who would help too. If you do it yourself, you'll understand what is going on in your network better.

 

We decided to spilt our buildings, so we have 6 vlans set up for our curriculum machines.

 

You might go for 2/3 curric vlans

Printers Vlan

Security Vlan (CCTV, Door Entry, Alarm & Boilers)

Servers

Wifi?

Student Wifi?

 

You need to decide on one of your switches to act as a router, and start looking at configs. One you've got your head around tagged and untagged, iphelpers, and default routes, you really should be fine.

 

What kind of subnet do you use? Is it provided by your LEA/RBC?

I'm just playing devil's advocaat... some people want to VLAN but don't really know why they should do it.
