chrisjako Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Anyone know if this is possible? DHCP on our open wifi dishes out ip's on a seperate IP range & subnet to our school network where the printers are installed - We use smoothwall for our open network filtering Primarily trying to do this from iPads
FN-GM Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 You will be able to set a rule so people on the WIFI network will be able to access certain IPs (the printers) on the main LAN. Not a smoothwall user so i dont know how to do it
CyberNerd Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 We are doing this using papercut. We set up a reverse proxy through a server in the DMZ to the print server. Staff and students log into papercut through their AD linked accounts and can then upload office or pdf files to web print. Everything is https traffic so it works on ipads, androids as well as BYO laptops. Tour - Web Print (Mobile Printing) - PaperCut
rdk Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 We're using web print from Papercut as well. Works well. The kids with BYO computers do have a network account to enable printing, but they are not logging in to our network on their machines.
