[sims] Nova T4 - error with Proof Print

When trying to access the Proof Print routine we are getting the following error message:

 

Divide By Zero or Overflow Error

 

This only occurs when trying to Proof Print from the "Timetable > Selection" menu - don't seem to get the error anywhere else where Proof Print is available. Rolling back to previous year's archive repeats the same error - which is new and only started occurring after 29th Feb.

 

Ideas anyone?

In this solution, where a path for SIMS is given, N: denotes the drive letter on which the SIMS applications run.

When selecting to Proof Print timetables any of the following errors can occur: General Protection Fault, Illegal operation, Divide by 0 or Overflow Error.

If none of the files are 0 bytes please delete the file which represents the type of printing you are doing. For example if printing student timetables delete the PT_STUD.DDA - Student Timetables.

Where problems arise when printing timetables through Reports | Print Timetables in SIMS .net, the PT files relevant to this are in the N:\SIMS\SNOVA\NOVAT directory.
(The ones for printing in Nova-T4 are in the \SNOVA\NOVAT\DATA directory.)

1. It is necessary to find out whether there are any PT_*.DDA files that are 0 bytes in length.

2. In Windows Explorer these can be found in the N:\Sims\Snova\NovaT\Data\ folder. These are:-

a. PT_SEL.DDA - Selection Timetables
b. PT_STUD.DDA - Student Timetables
c. PT_GRP.DDA - Group Timetables
d. PT_TCH.DDA - Teacher Timetables
e. PT_YEAR.DDA - Year/Band Timetables
f. PT_ROOM.DDA - Room Timetables

3. Any such files need to be deleted, as they will be regenerated correctly the next time the Proof Print routine is run in the programme.

Printing timetables via SIMS .net | Reports | Timetables


Select date and select students.


Error occurs.

This error can occur when attempting to print timetables for an incorrect date range.

When you change the effective date on the Student/Teacher timetable screen, ensure you press the 'Refresh' button.


Simply changing the date using the calendar will not refresh the list of students/teachers.

 

Hopefully one of those will sort the issue out.

We had a 0 bytes DDA file ... cleared it out. Then got moaned at as all the print layouts had to be reset! Cheers for help.

Are you new to SIMS or just EG? Those solutions are on Capita's SupportNet website, it will be well worth signing up if you're not already a member.

We're not a SIMS school - but do use NovaT (but soon to dump it) - my predecessor was on the SupportNet, but I'm not as never needed it.

 

The other thing - I knew I'd get a quicker answer coming on here than onto there ...
