I posted this in the HAP+ instructions thread but later felt that it didnt belong in there so i am posting here instead, if a mod could remove the other post that would be most awesome! [Edit] dont worry mod i found the delete button.

Ok so, I am setting a HAP box following the HAP v7 Installation Tutorial video and i have got stuck configuring IIS.

On the configuring IIS authentication part of the video it says to make sure anonymous auth and forms based auth are enabled, my IIS installation does not have the Forms based Authentication option available for me to enable.

http://weblogs.asp.net/zroiy/archive/2008/08/17/missing-windows-authentication-provider-for-iis-7-on-windows-server-2008.aspx

Says it should be available if i add the Windows Authentication service role under the IIS role, this is already ticked but i still have no Forms based auth available in IIS!

I can see the FormsAuthentication module in modules but i guess it just isnt loaded? I am missing something blatantly obvious here arent i?

Thanks for this Nick, i am in setup.aspx but the page doesnt really correspond with the one in the video.

The video has no mention of "Services Activated" which i have a cross next to. Also it has a cross on active directory base settings even though correct criteria has been entered and HAP is able to process logons via its logon form.

Any ideas what i have got wrong here?

Also when i click in the students feild or add under Active Directory User List OUs, i just get a window titled Active Directory Browser with a blue bar that isnt moving.

I am also seeing this:

If you have not already done so, please edit ~/web.config with notepad, etc..., changing:

to

But when i go to the web.config

Is not in there?

Everyone else seems to have got this setup a doddle so i'm feeling like a right noob here now

Try replacing the HAP+ files again from the Main Web ZIP off codeplex, this will correct any configuration issues. How many green ticks do you have under checks?

I downloaded the files and replaced them but it hasnt made any difference i still get:

If you have not already done so, please edit ~/web.config with notepad, etc..., changing:

to

I also still have a red cross next to base settings, i do have it published now though except when i try to change any of the links i get an internal server error, I did however manage to change the webmail URL from the hapconfig.xml

It looks great and i cant wait to actually get access to network file resources with it!

Please hlp me make this work

1. Don't hit save until you have completed every tab you need to use

2. The web.config changes are information notices for you, it is displayed everytime you hit save.

3. You should always have a red cross in AD Base Settings as HAP+ will not put the AD Password back in there when you hit save (security feature), you only need to put that password in if you need to use the AD Browser, and even then you DON'T hit save until you have finished doing all the tabs you can.

Don't hit SAVE until you have FINISHED!!!

Clicking Save will remove the AD Password from the box and stop the AD Tree from being populated.
