Connection Speed Tests

We're having some Internet issues here - in the process of trying to convince BT of this, they claimed that sites like speedtest.net don't work for fibre connections, only standard ADSL lines. Is there any truth in that?!

just as a n other test see what speed you get downloading an iso from ms their servers usually work fast

Best thing is to try a download from Microsoft or somewhere similar, speedtest does work with fibre.....

1) ADSL + fibre below 24MBPS

2) Fibre 24MBPS plus

I'm aware of the official BT speedtest site - the problem with that is that you can only run one test an hour.

Does speedtest.net and other speed check sites support fibre? answer is yes.

Have you tried another provider like

are you sure its not a DNS / proxy issue?

btw bt speed checker works more than once and hour, ive done 5 in the last 10 mins 89MBPS.

I reckon it is a hardware fault with our 2Wire router, as we've been seeing packet loss for a few weeks now - the difficulty is in getting BT to accept this and/or do anything about it.

 

I've just run several tests in quick succession too, but other times have been told I can't do more than one an hour.
