Hi,

I had googled this and was surprised not to find much.

I have a test AD setup. I test various stuff on it. I would like to import a number of fictional users. Does anyone know where i could obtain this please? It would be nice if there are some specially for AD that use most fields but it isnt a must.

Thanks

It's very easy with excel to do that, just create one line like FicUser1, password1,............. and so on and tehn copy the data down. You can have as many as you want.

You mean like you would use Lorem Ipsum text to populate a webpage?

I could but proper names, job titles etc would be better. When testing stuff you would get a better feel of what it would be like in production.

I would but i dont have time to do 1000 users and fill in every field in AD i would run out of names as well :)

Like I say you only need to create one row, make sure that each field ends with a number, when you copy the data down the number appends to the next. You can create 1000 users in about 2 seconds once you have the first row set up.

Slight tangent but many years ago GPMC arrrived and it came with some scripts: One will export full AD config (users, groups, memberships, OU structure, AD permissions, GPOs inc GPPs) to an XML file plus sysvol-like folders for the GPOs, and another will import all of that into a fresh DC. Still works on 2008 R2.
