A new version of the Media & Filer server bundle is available (all unofficial, of course, a-la jailbreak).

 

Now has a web interface, Twonky media server and package management. Looks extra awesome.

So what are your thoughts on this then? I've just brought a Samsung Freesat box but this looks pretty cool!

I've had it a couple of years, it's a great piece of kit. Runs cool and quiet. The menus are a bit clunky compared with the current state of the art, but it's OK.

 

It seems that all the new Freesat services (iPlayer, ITVplayer and Boxoffice365) get beta'd on the Humax first.

 

It's a Linux box, hence these ROM customisations.

I was torn between the Humax and the Samsung. Went for the Samsung in the end after reading negative stuff about the Humax.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago after moving house (away from Virgin cable service). It's a reasonable box with a couple of niggles (sometimes a bit slow on menu's, remote field of view is pretty rubbish). Picture quality is good IMO and the additional benefits from the custom firmware are a real bonus.
