Wireless Repeaters

Hi we have a wireless network that works pefectly well everywhere except one hut where the signal is weak. There are no netowrk ports out there and i dont fancy running one externally. So i thought a wireless repeater but i have never had to use of these before so can anyone recommend one and are they easy to set up?

I've used Buffalo APs to do this in the past, works fairly well IIRC. It was just a case of telling each AP the others MAC address. Kind of the same way as making a wireless bridge.

Sorry i need to explain a bit more detail about our wireless system. We do not have AP we have an 'airspace' system which from what i have been told is different?!?! I havent got a clue

 

The ariel things we have are aruba ap60/ap61 using an aruba wireless mangement thing that look like a switch (very tecnical )

Buffalo wireless acces points bridge and are very easy to setup. You can set it as a dedicated link and then use thr 4 rj45 ports or you can set it up as a link and allow clients to conect to it but it does drop the performance.

 

 

this works best if you have a cat5e port in the main building to link from. it also will not intergrate into your management! but will defo work on the same GHZ

You do have access points the aruba radios are dumb access points with all the intelligence on the central switch.

 

You say you have ap60/ap61 <--- I'd guess the AP stands for access point.

DLink DWL-2000AP's do this too...

Avoid D-Link DWL-2000AP ones if at all possible, I've had nothing but trouble with the couple we have in our school!
