Span Multiple DVDs

I was given a site supervisors daughters computer to look at and it was completely infested with virii! and a ll I coudl do with it was to plug it into my computer and copy all the My Docs files to a folder on my system.

 

I want to give them a copy of this data on DVD but can't find a solution to this simple request

 

(I tried DVD Span but the DVDs produced are unreadable )

 

I feel this isn't rocket science and there must be something simple to do this with

 

Any suggestions?

Not sure if this is the best way, but in the past I've done similar things with 7-zip, setting the compression to 'store' (no compression, fast), and split to volume set to DVD.

Have to manually burn to DVD of course, but it eliminates the guesswork.

 

And, because I'm a kind person, I've supplied the command line app and a bat file that unpacks it all HDD :-)

I thought about that but I just want something simple and requiring no tech knowledge/effort from the user apart from putting a DVD into a drive and doing a select all/copy/paste.

Have you tried SizeMe or Burn to the Brim?

 

Like the poster above, I sometimes use 7-Zip or WinRAR, split the volumes so they are CD or DVD sized and then burn each one to a separate disc. If the data is important, I also create parity archives using MultiPar.

 

You could also use 8.5GB dual layer DVD+Rs or a spare 16GB/32GB USB flash drive if you are feeling generous.

Tried out SizeMe but couldn't understand it - it just suggested 1 disc (1%) ???? (Out of 16GB of data)
