Computers Randomly loosing GPO Settings

A few computers randomly around the school are loosing their group policy settings,

Students are then able to change settings on the local machines which is a big issue..

Before anyone mentions it, Yes Group Policy is applied to these computers and users. but this is the third or fourth machine to randomly do this.

When the machine is WDS' it all becomes fine so we have no idea what the problem could be.

sounds like a profile problem to me? Are they actually able to connect to network resources or just local? Do mapped drives appear?

its not a profile problem, it does it on all accounts that log on to this computer, it was fine yesterday and this morning just appeared period 2.. quite confusing, ill remove all profiles and have a look then.

Removing the profiles makes no differance at all.

 

i have also removed it from the domain renamed it re added it and moved it back to the organisational unit and no change..

Have you disabled asynchronous policy processing? This caused problems for me with drive mappings, though security policies were always applied successfully.

 

What OS are the clients? Have you tried re-adding them to the domain or running gpupdate manually?

its not picking up any group policys the only reason the H:\ drive is mapped is due to it being the home directory set for the user, this specific computer is windows xp, we have had a couple do this recently, no policys have been changed not computers have been moved, i have re-added them to the domain and tryed gpupdate on numerous occacsions and still no luck, if all of the drives didnt map that wouldnt be a serious problem its just when students are able to change local security or access local drives / local permitions on this machine is the problem, also they are unable to access the student start menu which is redirected via gpo.

 

Also when computer is started up no policys are shown to be picked up same again when a user logs in
