Scotmk Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Hi Does anyone use a helpdesk like software for the site (facilities) for logging and tracking jobs to be done around the school? We are wanting to do this to keep track of things, can anyone recoomend a free one? to run on ASP for out intranet. Thanks
Scotmk Posted May 11, 2007 Author Posted May 11, 2007 Probably did not explain it fully, we already use liberum for our IT helpdesk, but I was wanting to keep a facilities one separate from this. I can use another copy of liberum and set it up for this, but I thought maybe some of you use something different maybe for this use, e.g. broken windows, doors, clean up etc.
plexer Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 We are intending to do this with our existing ticketing system RT and just have the site manager use his own queue. Ben
Joedetic Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 I was tasked with looking into facilities/resource management software and solutions just before i left my school. I looked into MRBS (which is opensource and runs on MySQL and PHP). The other option that i found was using exchange as a resource booking system. I didnt get a chance to explore this a bit more because i left, but i think the general opinion of the Head of ICT weas that he wanted to use e-Portal to do room booking eventually so i believe it got dropped.
stephenleak Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 We use something called EasyDesk. I can't compare it to anything else, as I haven't used anything else. It's basic (in fact its still the trial version), but it meets our basic needs.
plexer Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Jo: We are talking about logging jobs into a tracking system not booking rooms or resources. Ben
Joedetic Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Sorry, misread the origional post as logging facilities. It happens.
Kyle Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 i've seen a couple of schools i visit use echange public folders for this.
