WSUS - SQL - SCCM 2007 problem

I am trying to install SCCM 2007 on a Windows 2008 R2 64 bit computer (in a lab environment). I have come this far:

 

-Added IIS role and configured it.

-Installed SQL server 2005 32-bit with default instance ( I do not have sql 2008).

 

When I try to install WSUS it can not see the sql server instance. I think this question has been asked before in this forum but I did not see an answer.

 

Attached please find the picture where I am stuck.

 

By googling I could not find a solution.

 

If anybody has found a solution of this problem please let me know.

How do you want to run WSUS, as part of SCCM or standalone but just sitting on the same server?

I want to run wsus as part of the sccm. All on the same server. WSUS, SQL, SCCM all on same server.

I wonder if your problem is to do with the SQL server being 32bit on the 64bit OS. I know that some application do not like this setup and I wonder if WSUS is refusing to see it because the keys are in the "wrong" part of the registry.

 

Just a thought - will go off and google a bit now.

Looks like that might be a red herring as I cannot find any references to it causing any problems.

 

However, it does mention that it needs SQL 2005 SP1 - have you patched SQL 2005?

I have uninstalled sql 2005 32 bit and installed sql 2008 64 bit. It is working now. It seems 64 bit and 32 bit does not work well together.

As I said - I remember reading something about this causing problems - but I still cannot find where I read it - sorry.
