Preferably down south and wouldn't mind us visiting to have a look at them in action? Or does anybody know of any suppliers who are currently reselling the solution that would be able to demo them to us? Thanks
plexer Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I now have the T200 zero clients deployed in production using an HP Z210 as the host machine. The T200's can be connected either via usb cable or via ethernet but they both do the same thing as when you connect them via ethernet they are actually doing usb encapsulated in ethernet packets. Also do you know if you have to use an HP Desktop to run them or if you could build a standard desktop and install multipoint and they would work? Thanks
plexer Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 You could use any desktop for the host then just d/l the drivers from the HP support pages for their 6200 multipoint desktop. Performance wise I am going to be doing a shoot out tomorrow with an Axel RDP multipoint client as well but for general use I don't see an issue I wouldn't do cad with them. The Z210 I am using with them is the i7-2600 4GB RAM 500GB disk. Ben

Ben Thats cool - would be good to hear the performance of it - Our pe dept mainly use the machines for word processing occasional bit of movie maker. Ideally I'll build a couple of 1U servers to host the zero clients from as the rooms I want to role our are directly next door to the server room. How many clients do you think concurrently from the I7 machine? If custom building I would probably go with an SSD machine to aide the solution.

With the 4GB ram I wouldn't want to add too many more at the moment, one slightly annoying issues so far is that looping flash adverts do seem to cause some slowdown. For general office use you'll be fine. Movie maker won't run though even 2.6 due to it being an rdp solution effectively. Using ethernet clients means that your hosts could be virtualised. Ben

Ben Ah ok - I'll being giving it a go - I've been looking at the Dual chassis i.e you can put 2 desktops in 1 1u chassis. I'll be getting some pricing on the clients - do you know how much Multipoint is on EES roughly? Also how much are the zero clients around £70?

The multipoint manager application can be run as an rdp app for you to manage the sessions themselves, ab-tutor, net support, netop and other 3rd party management solutions also integrate with mps. Ben Hi Plexer, Wanted to know if you still see the problems of slowdowns when working with flash site ? Do you think there is a solution for this problem ? Thanks, Greenware

We are doing our first steps with HP T200 units and evaluating it for our WMS2011 installations and we've found out that when using IE for Youtube for instance, we see slowing down in the mouse movements. It's almost impossible to work that way...(BTW, when the T200 are USB connected there is no problem) Basically, when ever the mouse is hovering upon a flash component, we see the problem. Also we've found out that it's not possible to use only HP T200 units without the existence of at least one station which is Directly connected. Our server configuration : CPU: INTEL i5 -2400, RAM: 8GB, HD:500GB , LAN: 1GB 5x HP T200
