I think this issue may be down to compatability setting sbut wondering if anyone else has seen this before.

Windows 7 Enterprise and Office 2010 Plus on a Laptop and a Desktop both display the same issue.

If a user downloads a file from email or another online source and then click on the open button they get the error shown here same thing happens if they save it to disk and double click on the file.

However if you right click on the file and choose edit then it opens fine as can be seen below.

Thoughts?

Ok so I've solved this with the help of:

Cannot open downloaded PowerPoint files in PowerPoint 2010 - Microsoft Answers

Which basically says:

If you wish you can turn off this protection (obviously making things a little less secure)

File >> Options >>Trust Center >> Trust center settings >> Protected View

It's down to the security and trusting of files downloaded from the Internet in Office 2010.

I'm sure that rather than just turning of protected view trusted locations etc... could be tweaked but this works.

Alternatively you can get around this on a file by file basis by right clicking on it choosing properties and then hitting unblock.
