[sims] SIMS Update problems

Just updated to the Autumn 2011 release. Now some users dont get the Student Details icon on screen. Some get it but on clicking it get an error message (UnauthorizedAccessException) and SIMS bombs out. Replies to messages sent cant be read by some users. Get "user has insufficient permissions to view this information". All worked before the update.

 

Raised a call with Capita this morning at 9am and havent heard diddly squat back yet!!!

Had a similar problem once but with staff records. Users had full permissions but as soon as they tried to open a record, SIMS bombed out. Turns out they had been magically added to a random SIMS system manager group (TP Super User if my memory servers me right). Worth checking out what groups users are members of in System Manager 7 to see if any random groups with an effective start date of today have been added to users.

I second that, some of the groups are incompatible and each update changes the groups permissions in SIMS. So an incompatibility may well have been introduced.

Ok - seem to have sorted the No Student Details problem. It would seem that in the Group "Class Teacher" the View permission had been taken away from Student Record. How weird is that???

Even though it is a Template and it doesnt show the Yellow triangle to show that is different from the default. You would think the default permission for class teacher would include being able to see Student Records????

Will have to check the problem with messages tomorrow and see what is causing that.
