I've just run the Autumn 2011 update, and am trying to get it out to the clients. Manually running simsapplicationsetup.exe works fine, but if I call the same file from a batch script it gets part-way through and then stops running. Anyone know why or how to get round this?

I can't let the users update it themselves, as for some reason I always get an error message on running simsload.exe saying that the sims.ini file is missing or incomplete. Edited by enjay

You installed it by running SIMSApplicationsetup.exe yer? Well you need to manually enter SIMSSetupsDirectory= into the local machines sims.ini (in C:\Windows)

When you say your running manually what are you entering? Have you logged onto SupportNet - one of the stick items is the command line options for doing this and it's very well documented.

Yes, I'm installing it by running simsapplicationsetup.exe

I can't see the sticky you mean; our sims.ini files used to just say:

[setup]

SIMSDotNetDirectory=C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net

but I've now changed it to:

[setup]

SIMSDotNetDirectory=C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net

SIMSSetupsDirectory=S:\SIMS\Setups

Is that enough, or is there more I need to add?

Where is it failing? Do the users have write access to c:\program files\sims ?

In your batch file that you run, does it say: SIMSApplicationSetup.exe /S {QuietMode}

Can your users see the sims.ini, That error often means they can't see the sims.ini because it is in the root windows directory.

If you use the simsperm.bat to allow access to a specific group of users that the upgrades should work
