Print accross RDP accross 2 different networks

I'll try and explain this clearly, if i dont then slap me and i try and make it clearer!

 

The bursar connects to our acadamies trust to access the new finance package via an rdp connection to one of the terminal servers (2008). How can i get her to be able to print from there TS Server to her printer on her desk?

 

Ive ticked the box in the rdp settings with no luck.

 

Do i need to get the IT guys at the academy to install the print drivers for her printer on there server?

Yes. The RDP session maps the local printer, and for that the Terminal Server requires the correct printer drivers.

 

I have attempted to run a system like this in the past and it can be horrendous, as you are at the mercies of whatever printer the user happens to have!

 

If it turns out to not be possible (i.e. either through a lack of available drivers or an unwillingness to go down this route), you could press to get a PDF writer installed on the TS box, and copy the PDF's down the wire. May be a pain though, depending on how much printing they do....
