HMCTech Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Bit of a weird one, we have an internal helpdesk system which just sends email to exchange using SMTP and recently (no clue when as we dont send tickets) there is a long pause from a user clicking submit ticket to the page showing submission complete. Now if I dont specify an exchange server in the settings the page loads instantly. Scratching my head as to what could be the issue on exchange as not a lot has changed, the receive connectors are the same and certificates are all fine. Any thoughts anyone?
Conrad Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Hi Alex, If you are using Exchange 2010 you can nobble the delay by doing the following; Fire up Exchange PowerShell on the hub transport server, and issue the following command: Set-ReceiveConnector "Connector Name" -MaxAcknowledgementDelay 0 This should take care of your issue. Regards Conrad
HMCTech Posted December 22, 2011 Author Posted December 22, 2011 Hi Conrad, Thanks for your response that seems to of had no effect. Alex
IanT Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 You looked at the queues or message tracking to see if that indicates any delays? Also enable smtp logging - might tell you something there.
Conrad Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Another thing is that you could try using the port 587 (the submission port) rather than port 25 (the MTA port). You have to use authentication and SSL to use the submission port. Ensure your receive connector is configured to allow basic authentication (it should be).
sukh Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 What version of Exch? 2010? Seems like tarpitting, change this to 1 sec and check, default is around 5s
