[sims] Removing FMS Database

Just getting this straight in my head before attempting it.

 

We no longer use FMS in school and stopped using it in the summer. My intention is to move FMS to a standalone virtual machine so that if (when) it's needed it can be booted up and used that way. To remove the FMS database of our current server, presumably all I need to do is detach the database and stop the backup script from running. No additional steps required?

yep, that should be fine, that's all i did when i moved server. keep the setups etc. and install it straight over to a vm. in fact do that first, and transfer over the data. then run it and test it before you decommission. you should be able to restore a .bak file for testing, but to keep logins etc. you should use dbattach (the fms one, even though it's probably the same as the sims one) to detach and reattach.
