6Foot2 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 We are looking at LanView as we have problems with iTalc: With iTalc we find: It does not start reliably for administrator [or at all for technicians] When it does start it does not show all of the computers in a room We were really happy with the previous version but the latest one has been a pain to deploy and use. Back on to LanView I would like to clarify a few points: How do you deploy it? Once deployed can you group stations into rooms the way that you can with iTalc? I am guessing that the version I have downloaded to have a look at has some bits missing [some add-in modules?] If this is the case how to we get hold of the full suite/fully functioning version? Many thanks.
Pyroman Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 From what i remember the computers just end up in a massive list called All stations but i'm sure when the machines are added to the list you'll be able to make them into groups. Installing is a breeze you just install the main server and then the client install file is within the files for the program eg c:\program files\lanview\client. The problem i'm finding at the moment is that Symantec endpoint goes nuts when you try and install the server, it thinks there's a trojan but i imagine it's picking up the VNC part and thinking that that's it.
6Foot2 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Also looking for Lanview to be able to give a preview of all of the stations in a room before we connect to them [similar to the way that iTalc does] How do we enable this?
Pyroman Posted December 8, 2011 Author Posted December 8, 2011 For version 3 you used to be able to donate and they'd send you an addon called VNC slideshow 2 which tiled the screens. When they shut the website down they started to give it away as a freebie i'll see if i can find the file for it but it might be worthwhile looking on the forums or sending them an e-mail. They're a small company so will probably get back to you quickly. 1
