Another nugget I got from last week's visit to Reading was that all the various educational add-ons had been bundled into an easily deployable offering.

The Learning Suite has information where you can get this master package and I would be interested in hearing how people get on with it on different systems (Vanilla / CC3 / CC4 / CSE / Classlink / etc)

The software covers the following

Creativity

  • Songsmith
  • Photosynth
  • Expression Encoder
  • AutoCollage
  • Kodu
  • Microsoft Producer for PowerPoint 2003

Collaboration

  • SharedView
  • InkSeine
  • StickySorter
  • Outlook Connector

Research & Study

  • Bing Maps
  • Microsoft Translator
  • Worldwide Telescope
  • Microsoft Reader
  • Digital Literacy for Educators
  • Project Tuva
  • Ribbon Hero
  • Flashcards
  • Mathematics Add-in for Word 2007
  • Chemistry Add-ins for Word

Teaching Tools

  • Learning Content Development System
  • Office Add-in for Moodle
  • Innovative Teacher Toolkit
  • Getting Started & How-to Videos
  • Digital Storytelling
  • Mouse Mischief
  • Interactive Classroom
  • Math Worksheet Generator
  • Teacher Professional Development

The biggest piece of feedback we had about this, was that all the software was distributed across a myriad of websites, making it less than simple to install across school networks.

Ok so put all the msi's etc... onto one portal not all of the software into one monolithic installer.

The individual packages are still available. Is the issue that there are items you don't want to install or want more control over or is it the size of the deployment over a network?

Some good stuff there but it always makes me laugh when they also bundle stuff you know damned well you won't want :D Live Messenger (collaboration? Really?), IE9 etc.

Some of that is in various ICT schemes of work and there's a couple there I didn't know were free. Might investigate those in a bit more detail soon :)
