Killer_Bot Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 This sounded really interesting until I read the bit about the job being for 1 year only initially. That's a shame.

Killer_Bot Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) Please don't let that put you off applying. Kind of cant help but. I know a year is a long time but I can't afford to have even a possibility of being out of a job in that time, even more so when you consider the level of input this post asks for. featured_spectre Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 You need a consultant more than a network engineer
AngryTechnician Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 My impression of this ad is that the school is in almost the same position my school was in when I took my job. My school had considered outsourcing but the Bursar had convinced them to give a full time post a go. It sounds like a final decision hasn't been made with this post, but I would say that if you went in and made an impression, the decision to keep support in-house would be made pretty quickly. If my experience is anything to go by, a school like this can be very rewarding for the right person. It's big enough to have the money to do something interesting, but small enough for you to integrate with the rest of the staff.
bcsbirmingham Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Thank you to AngryTechnician who has summarised our position perfectly. There is nothing to add to this.
Little-Miss Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Literally up the road from my current place...
glennda Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I've applied for the role as it sounds quite interesting with lots of scope for development! Would require a move up that way though, which i am happy to do. Or a 3 hour Commute each way!
