[ms office - 2010] Scale Content for A4 or 8.5 x 11"

We're having some problems printing labels and documents with borders here. A bit of digging comes up with the suggestion to change the Scale Content for A4 or 8.5 x 11" option in Office > Options > Advanced. Unfortunately, there is some confusion over whether this should be ticked or unticked! Also, from what I understand of this setting, changing this would make my labels print as expected but would run the risk that any document formatted as Letter size (which some unfortunately are) would then not print.

 

How do you guys have this configured?

If your lables are set up on the right paper size no scaling should be involved. I almost always do any final scaling in the printer driver as its usually more reliable.

Of course. Didn't think to look at the paper sizes - for some reason, the affected printers were set to Letter not A4.
