SCCM 2012 RC

SCCM 2012 and many of it's related services (Forefront etc) has hit Release Candidate stage for all those interested. We're gearing up for a complete move to it for next Summer so this is of huge interest to us. Definitely worth a look!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the go ahead to upgrade our servers to have the RAM/Disk (well SSD...) grunt to take on more of the SC products

 

Can't wait for next year and FF Endpoint security!

Running the original 2007 suite (all of which are now in R3 state) with FEP. It is a very nice suite... and looking forward to the full SC2012 suite. The requirements for it are high - as you would expect. All the info over on technet.

In what way are they high? Our test network is 2 DCs running on ESXi from a crap dual core xeon with 6gb of ram! Not entirely slow.

For information, RC2 is now released if you're not already aware. Improvements to task sequence import/export are the main gains from what I gather.

I'll wait until full release then probably wait a while after that before replacing SCCM 2007, someone else can take the bleeding edge pains for me on this one

 

Part of me still prefers to keep the AV as a non-MS product from a paranoia point of view...

Considering the absolute crap we've had with SymGITec it will be an absolute blessing. We've actually moved over to it early by sticking just the client on our CC3 stations Plus with EES we're already licensed for it all so it's a large expense sorted.

Looking good though, really can't wait to roll it out and get rid of CC3. Not that it's been bad, I will hasten to point out; it's been very good to us, it's been in place a fair few years at our school and with relatively few problems. Definitely showing it's age though and it will be a godsend to put an OS on many of the systems that will actually use them - there's nothing worse than watching a brand new i3/i5 system struggle with XP on it.
