enjay Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 HAP+ (7.5) has stopped working. Everything was fine, however now when I try and connect, I get a standard error page, saying: This problem can be caused by a variety of issues, including: •Internet connectivity has been lost. •The website is temporarily unavailable. •The Domain Name Server (DNS) is not reachable. •The Domain Name Server (DNS) does not have a listing for the website's domain. •There might be a typing error in the address. •If this is an HTTPS (secure) address, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and check to be sure the SSL and TLS protocols are enabled under the security section. I have tried via the public address and also via the server name, also directly from the server itself referencing https://localhost/hap I've done an IISReset and also restarted the server. What should I be looking at next?
enjay Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 I've just noticed I can get the non-https site up, so the issue is something to do with SSL.
enjay Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Certificate's good. I have just deleted and recreated the binding on Default Web Site, and it is working again now. What might have caused that?
nickbro Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I had my IIS at home stop working last week, couldn't using the RD Gateway, or IIS, ended up reinstalling IIS to get it working again
enjay Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Unknown, a little IIS quirk So, put it on the "one of those things" pile and wait to see if it does it again? I'll keep you posted...
enjay Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 Hi Nick, unfortunately it dropped out again over the weekend at some point; deleting and recreating the https binding resolved it. Was good on Thursday, dead by Saturday (don't know about Friday). Our server is scheduled to restart in the early hours of Saturday, could that have some impact?
nickbro Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Shouldn't do, none of my IIS servers I run at work have had this bug, they restart at 3am on Wednesday (if MS have released updates)
enjay Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 Just seems a funny coincidence that both times it has gone squiffy has been over a weekend. I'll try scheduling a restart for tonight and see what happens...
nickbro Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Really odd. HAP+ doesn't control IIS in this way, it doesn't have the permissions to do so
sister_annex Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Just a thought, it's not anything to do with the application pool not recycling properly, I have seen this once before (many moons ago) where the app pool didn't recycle properly and basically killed off the whole site May be worth a look
enjay Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 Definitely looks to be restart related. I know it was working yesterday evening, I restarted the server overnight and it is down this morning.
enjay Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 I've got other sites on the same IIS server - presumably I would need to back up and re-install them too? Considering how temperamental one of them (Eclipse) can be, I'm tempted to leave alone and just make a note to reset this each time I restart the server...
enjay Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 You would re-install or you would leave it alone?
nickbro Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 As you have other sites, and are happy with just resetting the binding, then I'd leave it alone
enjay Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Resurrecting this one just to give you an update. To save you re-reading the thread, I had the problem that every time I restarted the server, I had to go to "edit bindings" and re-apply the certificate; you suggested re-installing IIS but I left alone as I didn't want to risk Eclipse. Anyway... we now have a new certificate installed (from a different agency, FWIW) and I can now restart the server without impacting HAP+.
