Adding a new Disk to Existing Array in Server 2003

I have a RAID 5 array which is running low on space. I have 3 partitions (E,F and G) I need to add to the F partition. If I delete the F Partition and make it un-allocated space and then add a new hard drive to the array can I then increase the size of the partition to include the new disk and then restore data from backup? Or will the un-allocated space from the F partition stay in the middle of E and G and the new disk appear as un-allocated space at the end thus not allowing me to join both to make 1 new larger partition?

If I've understood you correctly, the only way to achieve this is if your disks have been converted to dynamic in Disk Management. Once done you can go right ahead and do what's needed, thus no need to delete the F partition and whatnot.

Will converting to dynamic disks have any detrimental effect on my file server ?
