TechMonkey Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 So for once not an AD post, so far (touch wood) that seems to work ok. I have followed various advice on how to set a locked down default profile and it appears not to be working. The script that Carter posted up seems to have vanished so can't run that to check I am doing it correctly. Any one any ideas what I am missing? Also if I have logged onto a network account & need to reset it to pick up the new default profile what do I do? I assume deleting all the OSX folders from their network account will do this as I can't find anything locally stored for the network accounts Ta
TechMonkey Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 After some fiddling the default profile appears to be applied to new local accounts but not to networked accounts. Is this normal behaviour?
TechMonkey Posted November 3, 2011 Author Posted November 3, 2011 Sorry for the BUMP but can anyone confirm that with out an OSX server it is possible to set a default template profile locally to affect networked logins? Every technique and guide I have followed so far has either mentioned using a mac station as a server or editing the User Template folder which only seems to affect local logins. Ta
Karamoja Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 (edited) If you use a customized user template (in the english.lproj), then all new users, irrespective of what type, will get that set of home folders the first time they log on. We use that method with our students who logon via AD with the networked account option. Make sure you repair permissions after changing the home folders in the english.lproj though.
