I am trying to roll out office 2010 to a number of computers using a script. Microsoft suggest running the script at startup, but I have chosen to run it at shutdown. This way the users dont have to wait 20 mins for it to finish. They can shutdown at night and in the morning it will be ready for them to use.

My problem is that when the computer is shutdown, the installer starts. At about half way through the install, it fails, and finishes shutting down the computer without adding a logfile to the installation source folder. If I turn it on, then shutdown, it works perfectly.

I have scouted the net and cant seem to find any information on this problem.

I have even tried adding a seperate batch file to uninstall previous versions of office first and then call the setup file. This causes the same issue.

This has happened on almost all computers I have tried it on.

Has anyone else experience this kind of problem? Is there a way of logging what the installer is doing before it shuts itself down?

Thanks

James
