What is a schedule 19 minibus sticker?

Does anyone know or could find out for me please. Last time someone did their test, the examiner picked up that we didn't have one. I contacted County Hall and was told it's the yellow sign in the back that denotes it's a school bus. Someone was tested again today and was told the Schedule 19 sticker goes by the tax disk but he wasn't clear as to what it was exactly. If someone could look at the stickers on their minibus, it might help me.

It's ok, I think I've found out. It's some sort of permit sticker that basically denotes that the vehicle is not used for hire.

It's a section 19 which basically means you don't have to have a PCV license to drive a minibus (but the driver still needs a D1 classification if the bus is over 3.5ton and/or 17 seater)

NB. Schools and educational establishments who do not charge their pupils do not normally need a section 19 permit

 

So we didn't need one really. I've applied for one as it's only £11 for 5 years.

Both our minibuses have Section 19 permits, but I believe our LA actually provide them for us, and as part of the agreement we take them for a regular inspection at a garage every 12-13 weeks

I'd forgotten all the minibus bureaucracy - had to handle it back before the present regulations under the old Minibus Act. Sent off for a copy on principle. Loved the defiition of overall length - the distance between two vertical planes at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (OK so far) but excluding any snow plough, any telescopic fog lamp when extended, and any Post Office letter box not greater than (can't remember, I think it was 300mm). Made a point of checking our Scout Troop's Transit and found a serious lack of all three items.
