drk84 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Hi, Is there any way of restricting hidden files from being saved into home directories by any chance? I am currently using FSRM for file restrictions but can't find anything there. Thanks in advance
drk84 Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 I have also got hidden folders - Recycler and Recycle Bin any way of restricting these from being saved. Thanks again
cromertech Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 In a word... no. You might be able to work around this with a scheduled task. I'm not sure though as I've never used one. What exactly are you trying to do?
drk84 Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 I have found in staff areas that there are folders Recycle Bin and Recycler which contain files in and is taking up space. I do not want these folders saving however they are hidden. There are also .rdp and .ini files for which I have used the file screening to restrict but need a way of restricting the 2 recycle folders as I found one which had 1GB of data in it. Thanks
Chuckster Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Do you have the GPO "Do not move deleted files to the Recycle Bin" enabled? If not, enable it as this will remove the issues of files being stored in the Recycle Bin for your users, and give you back some much needed space at the same time.

Thats great Chuckster thanks very much I have manually deleted the folders - they won't appear again will they?
Chuckster Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Even if you have deleted the folders they will reappear again as a hidden operating system file. However, files deleted will be deleted permanently and won't be stored in the Recycler folder.
