Hi everyone

hoping someone can help me here i have just started testing windows 7 in our school and so far its working great that i can login and get my documents on windows 7 no problem and on xp with no issues. The problem has now happened that when i login to windows 7 machine it works great very fast but when i move over to a windows xp machine it just sits at applying personal settings and doesnt go anywere.

This has only started happening as of yesterday i dont understand why this is happening, i am using local profiles not mandatory profiles. Has anyone come accross this before or know why it doesnt allow me now to login to a windows xp machine.

Thank you

Ok it seems to work now if i logon to the machine as the administrator and delete my locally stored profile and then logout and in as myself again it seems to work fine i will play about with it a bit more because i wouldnt want this to happen when its rolled out to all the pupils

its really the machines just about support windows xp they wouldnt be able to handle windows 7 they are slow right now and thats with windows xp installed which is why i wasnt going to deploy to the entire network just try and seperate it for windows xp and windows 7

Is there a reason you don't have roaming profiles? They can save you a lot of work, instead of going round many machines.

I've had Windows 7 running on 5+ year old machines and I think you'd be surprised just how well it does perform.
