Dell Optiplex 980 with Win XP Restarts!!

Hi All,

 

I have this brand new Dell optiplex 980 And as the company policy this computer works on Windows XP SP2, It started to restart randomly, and i Found out the problem is in the RAM so I replaced the RAM, and the machine was working just fine till it starts to restart back again, but now it happen like 1 time a day, i found nothing in the Event viewer, and also I left the Automatically restart when system failure unchecked, but it still restarts.

are you sure it not installing updates and auto restarting

Yes I am sure, But what I do see in the Event Viewer in the Applications Tab, that the Symantic cant Install its updates, Failed to update, could this be a cause for this similar issue ?

not sure try and update it manually. But does not seem to be a windows error other wise you would get a BSOD

Thats why i unchecked the Automatically restarts when system failure box and i got nothing, Okay anyways i will try to update the Symantic tomorrow when i get to the office and see whats going on

run the test you could also have a psu problem/overheating problem
