Vaio keyboard problems

Would really appreciate some advice and hope I,m posting this issue in the right category. I have a 5 year old Sony Vaio Vgn-bx396 and recently one of the keys

started playing up meaning that I had to hit hard on it to get it to work. More recently this has happened to 4 or 5 keys and the typing behaviour has become

erratic such that when I type the cursor suddenly skips back to the middle of a previously typed word. The speed with which this has suddenly occurred leads me

to believe that the problem may not be a broken keyboard but another issue entirely.

Your help would be much appreciated on this

Can anyone help with me with this? Or do is a new keyboard required?
