[sims] Sims Learning Gateway - connection keeps dropping since changing to RM ISP

I'm hoping someone can provide some ideas as I'm getting rapidly frustrated.

 

Does anyone here use Sims learning Gateway?

We have it (hosted by Capita) and ever since the transition to RM internet the connection keeps dropping after 5 minutes.

 

If you restart the OpenVPN service the connection will stay up for about 5 minutes and then drop it again.

 

I’ve got a case logged with Capita – Who can’t see what’s causing it and I’ve also got a case logged with RM who have changed loads of firewall settings etc but the problem still persists.

 

Has anyone got any suggestions please?

Don't have SLG (yet) but do have flaky internet.

What's your ISP like? We have two connections that are supposed to provide failover but seem to be cutting out and aren't persistent as i keep getting reports from some systems that my ip has changed.

Is there a proxy involved too?

I have seen this before, when I saw it, it was down to the firewall resetting any connection after 5 mins. I suggest you check with RM.

@Vikpaw - Our ISP has very strong filtering service, sometimes too strong. Connection is good.

 

@Benji1 - I've asked RM to look into whether there is a idle timeout set. I've also monitored when the connection is lost and it seems to be random, not same amount of time each reset.

Could be worth getting a 2nd adsl line and testing it with a new gateway on that. It will show if its an RM problem or not.
