Unattended ComputerName + Join Domain - Windows 7 Part 2

Hello all,

 

A while ago I posted my Windows 7 unattend.xml file, and joined a test workstation to my test domain with no problems: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/80007-unattended-computername-join-domain-windows-7-a.html

 

I now come to the real deal and the unattend.xml file runs correctly, but the workstation doesn't join the domain. Instead of joining a domain called TEST it joins a workgroup called TEST, despite the fact I have clearly specified domain in my answer file.

 

The workstations in question are using signed drivers, and the username and password provided are correct. When I join the workstation manually to the domain, everything authenticates OK.

 

I've researched this problem and I've only found one other post describing this problem without a solution. I originally created the answer file using WAIK. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Have you used the fully qualified name of your domain in the answer file? I think it has to be domain.com, not just domain for the answer file to work properly. That's how I did it anyway.

Just to clarify, does it have to be the FQDN in both domain fields?

I never used the unattend script to join the domain, as it caused problems here (I used a command line util as part of sysprep instead), but yeah, I would always use the FQDN whenever I had to enter it in the unattend file.

Just to confirm using the FQDN in both fields now works. The workstation runs through mini setup and joins the domain correctly! Many thanks!
