Exchange 2010 add secondary DC

When we restart our Domain Controller that Exchange talks to exchange obviously cannot load anyones mailbox or OWA. Does anyone know if you can add a backup DC to the Exchange information so that it will failover and if so where is that information stored / added?

What version of DC are you running?

Is your global catalogue replicated as I thought if that was on each DC exchange would not die.

1. If you have left Exch to use autoconfig for DC/GC discovery then it should discover the DC/GC in the site.

2. If you have excluded or configured static DC/GC then this may be a possible cause.

3. Make sure the 2nd DC is also a GC ALSO in the same AD site as Exch
