Redirected start menu empty

@Darylrese there must be something else at play here. Are you getting any errors in the machine's event log regarding folder redirection, or group policy processing?

You've got to love Microsoft's useful error logs! I will ask a couple of my tech colleagues if they have some suggestions!

EDIT: i dont think the second one is relevant as to why the script isnt running! The script is in domain > netlogon > environment > students > scripts and has authenticated users in the security tab. All student accounts are the same but some get it, some dont Edited October 9, 2012 by Darylrese

Sorry for the delay. Sounds like when some users try to log on windows is trying to copy files into the start menu. Possibly because on the folder redirection you have the setting "Move the contents of Start Menu to the new location" enabled. (see pictures below). Neither of the two default tick boxes should be selected if you are redirecting to a common start menu.

Hi Dave, thank-you for your reply!

 

Both of those tick boxes are already unchecked I have attached our current settings. I think we might be going down the wrong path, our startmenu for all users works fine (as in all programs menu), its the script that pins items to start menu that isnt running for all users, Only some. It could be that we were having this discussion in another thread and ive got the two mixed up?

I've been having some problems with folder direction also

 

I'm getting 2 copies of what should be on the start menu

 

Any ideas why?
