Admiral208 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Morning folks. I am having a bit of a strange problem, I have set up GPP to deploy printers accross the school (with great success). Its working flawlessly, apart from one machine. I have set up the GP to map a network printer called OFFICE-01 to all of the PC's with a netbios name that begins with OFFICE-01. This particular machine has a local USB printer (HP Laserjet 1320), so I also ticked the box that says Set this printer as the default printer ...only if a local printer is not present. However, whenever a user logs in, the network printer is set as the default and not the local printer. I have had a quick look on the net but I have been unable to find any resolution. Has anyone else had a similar problem or know whats wrong? The server is 2k8 and the client is a fully updated XP SP3 Client. TIA James
tumbleweed Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 printui.dll /GA - global add, so that all users have the local printer as default ? 1
Admiral208 Posted August 22, 2011 Author Posted August 22, 2011 Thanks, Can you expand on this a bit more? do I have to run this at a command line? Does anyone else have any suggestions?
meastaugh1 Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I'be found this feature doesn't work either. I worked around it by adding a login script that sets any local printers as default. This works for me as we have quite a few users with local printers, but no more than one each. If your users had multiple local "printers", then you'd need something more precise, such as that already suggested.
