SC92 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Hi all, I'm trying to re-image our imac suite and I have done everything I normally do i.e. pull a mac off the domain and install new software, but i CANNOT get the standalone imac to software update from our mac mini server. it tells me the server is not responding although everything with it is fine. I have deleted the update server from WGM just to check if it will update on its own but to no avail. I cant seem to find any documentation even on the apple site so any help would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance.
morganw Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Just to check, is the server OS the same version as the client OS? I believe that the server can only mirror updates based on it's own OS version.
Chris_Cook Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 What version of osx and osx server are you running? You should be able to point a web browser at the update server (something along the lines of http://your-mac-server:8088/ iirc). I would also check if the server has downloaded all the updates yet. I think the list is in server admin somewhere. This will take some time to complete. Also, do you have any proxies set up? You may need to add an exclusion for the mac server.
