Remove DNS from Server 2003

I am in the process of moving across to 2008 r2 from 2003. I have setup the new server and made it a DC after upgrading the AD schema. I am now wanting to move DNS over so I can demote the existing DC and then install R2. Does anyone have any advice on how to do it? I am planning to do this tomorrow morning, so help before then would be appreciated!!

Have you put DNS on the new server?

Yeah, did that this afternoon.

Well i would first demote the server as a DC then remove DNS from server manager.

Have you transferred the FSMO roles off of the server you are going to demote?

Yeah tranfered all roles this afternoon
