Moving Print Servers

Im in the middle of changing print servers (from p3 box to a Xeon)

 

I used the printers transfer tool and i now got all the printers install and running on the new box

 

We also so use paper cut which im about to swap it to the new box tomorrow morning..

 

Will i be able to remove the old print server and rename the new print server to its old name and rejoin it without having to adjust the printers.bat file that we use?

Can't you just change the script? That would be the easier. You can however do what you want to do with the rename

It depends how your script was set up as to how easy this is for you. Mine, just has a variable "printserver" so change that once and job done.

 

Funny, weve jsut done exactly the same thing here - migrate print servers (mine has gone virtual though) and papercut too!

If it is hard coded then find and replace in your favourite text editor would sort that for you.
