hello everyone

I have installed italc on our win 7 teachers computers and the win xp class room computers and it is working great everything runs fine and it stores the ip address loading the class room computers every time i open italc.

When I installed it in our ubuntu class room the teacher and students work great It does everything it should. but after adding all the computers for the class room they disappear when closing and reopening italc on the teacher computer.

Any Ideas why I lose them in Ubuntu? It will not auto detect any classroom computers I have to put the IP address in every time I try to use it. I know I must be missing something simple in my set up just not sure what.

Thanks

Do you have write access on globalconfig.xml file ? This file stores the configuration of the classroom. You can also put it somewhere in your server where all teachers have read/write access and add a 'paths' key to the registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\iTALC Solutions\iTALC and add a string that look like this: "globalconfig"="DRIVE:\\PATH\\globalconfig.xml"

Thanks Odin, i was having the same problem but your fix worked for me.

In short:- create the key below

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\iTALC Solutions\iTALC\paths

Then:- create string/s

globalconfig - C:\Program Files\iTALC\globalconfig.xml

personalconfig - C:\Program Files\iTALC\personalconfig.xml (we use mandatory profiles so the personal config wouldn't save, we open the iTalc software and switch on autoview, this setting seems to be held in the personal config).

italc.PNG

We have allowed lecturing staff modify access to the iTALC folder in C:\Program Files\ so that they can make any changes after the initial setup.
