Trapper Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I just ran DiskMark on my drives and was surprised that my RAID data array (1) was several orders of magentude faster than SSD or USB3 on read. Surely this is a bug?! Speeds attached as PDFDrive Speeds - DiskMark.pdf
jamesfed Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Gotta be a bug - just got 142mb read and 86 write out of my 120GB Vertex 2 (which is resonable) but GB/s just isnt possible. Did you do a re run at all?
SYNACK Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Totally a bug, probably an issue with the junk Intel drivers.
Trapper Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 I thought the same. I assume USB3 will be majorly faster than a stock Intel RAID chip though?
SYNACK Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I thought the same. I assume USB3 will be majorly faster than a stock Intel RAID chip though? Still depends on the drives, if your talking SATA2 thats 6GB/s which kills even USB3 for throughput at 4.8GHz. With a low end Intel RAID controller in the way though results will vary heavily. To get to these speed levels you really need to be looking SSD anyway so the whole point becomes moot.
